Who We Are
The historic Jefferson Avenue, based in the Oak Cliff neighborhood in Dallas, became a cultural and commercial hub for Latinos starting in the mid-20th century. As Latinos settled in the area, they opened small businesses, transforming the once declining street into a vibrant center for Latino commerce and culture.
Today, Jefferson Avenue is known for its rich blend of Latino- and non-Latino owned shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks that reflect the community's resilience and contribution to the neighborhood's revival.
Oak Cliff, once considered an undesirable part of Dallas, is now seen as a thriving, diverse neighborhood, largely due to the resilience and hard work of its Latino population. Oak Cliff played a key role in revitalizing urban America, contradicting negative stereotypes and demonstrating the population’s positive impact on city life.
